A NHK revelou que a E-Tele ira exibir dia 7 de Outubro uma nova série anime de Pingu que foi entregue ao estúdio de animação Polygon Pictures (Ronja the Robber’s Daughter, Ajin).
A série intitulada Pingu in the City será totalmente em CG ao contrário da plasticina utilizada em série anteriores.
Pingu in the City será dirigida por Naomi Iwata (Web Ghost PiPoPa, Midnight Horror School) com roteiro de Kimiko Ueno (The Royal Tutor) e Shigenori Tanabe (Kemono Friends).
A série anime terá 52 episódios de 7 minutos que serão divididos em dois cours de 26 episódios
